Indian Land

Today we did the walk around Cleveland. Looked at the Ball Ground and organised our tickets. Our Hotel, a Hilton, is very nice and very close to the ground which is a big bonus. Nothing special about Hilton here they are just another Hotel chain.

Interestingly we are downtown as Cleveland is a very small town with only a hand full of Large buildings and no commercial centre that we can find.

The Ball park is one of the largest attractions and must add  considerable income through visitors to the town. Most people that you speak to are from outside Cleveland who are here to see 1 or 2 games and then move on.

The Ball Park (pictured left) seats about 50,000 people and looks huge from the hotel where the picture was taken. The right picture is of the Progressive park sign located outside the Ball Park.



After getting our tickets for our four games, we then went into the "merchandising store". Some good Indian gear was there and was duly purchased. A new cap, a couple of tops and a T shirt was the score. Surprised at the price really. About $140.00 in all, expected much more. We did have a bit of a win in that after talking to the salesgirl she took us out into the ballpark for a look at the ground as they were getting it ready for that nights game.

   Left the groundsmen working on the diamond. The scoreboard to the right occupies the entire bleachers area and is the largest screen I've ever seen. It is huge and as we saw during the game it shows replays player profiles, everything. Below the bleachers there is another inter active screen which shows all other results from both National and American league games. I didn't take the camera to the game last night so I didn't get any shots of the scoreboard working. But I will tonight. Also its Bobble head Night. A free Bobblehead for the first 15,000 fans through the gate. Its of a famous past player of the ninetys. Hopefully I can get one, Lois will be most happy as he will keep Maverick company.

As for the game a 3 - 0 result was not what we had hoped for, though Jim got to see Mr Puyoll (?) play.
